The KeyW Corporation Accounts Receivable Accountant in Herndon, Virginia



KeyW Corporation is seeking an AR Accountant in Hanover, MD or Herndon, VA.

The AR Accountant will play a key role in the Accounting department and will be responsible for billing, collections, and related accounts receivable activities. Key aspects of the position include proactively working with contracts and program teams to process invoices, complete unbilled analysis, and collect outstanding receivables in accordance with company policy and SOX controls.



  • Responsibilities

  • Validate project billing structure is setup in accordance with contract award or modification documentation.

  • Invoice government and commercial contracts for T&M, Fixed Price and Cost Plus contracts.

  • Proactively work to ensure invoices are paid within contractual terms and follow up with customers to resolve payment.

  • Collaborate with project controllers to analyze unbilled accounts receivable focusing on items that have not been billed and identifying when billing will be possible.

  • Follow and ensure strict adherence to internal policies and SOX controls.

  • Participate in contract close-out process, as needed.

  • Assist with external auditor and DCAA information requests related to accounts receivable, as needed.

  • Develop understanding of and maintain knowledge of how billing and project data interacts with other modules.

  • Ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned.



  • High-school diploma and 8+ years, or Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of Billing, accounts receivable, and/or project control experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • Experience in the government contracting industry and knowledge of Cost Plus, T&M, and Fixed Price contracts.

  • Understanding of general accounting principles (general ledger, revenue recognition, etc.).

  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Cognos reporting.

  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills, high energy, a desire to have a positive impact, and project management skills.

  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions.

  • Strong business acumen, ethics and integrity.
